Here's an update of this week's Ale Abbey development progress!

Ended another successful week of development and progress seems on schedule - Emiliano sums it up well: we should continue at full steam!

This week we focused on programming aspects, particularly with regard to Laymen and Laywomen. Additionally, our minds were stretched as we thought through and planned progressive research trees and unlockables as your monastery evolves; when more information becomes available regarding those elements we will share some diagrams that may make more sense

However, we also focused on things that would make the Abbey more visually appealing and presentable right away - like creating assets to illustrate problems associated with beer consumption; setting up the Superiors' room; and continuing our animation efforts from last week for Abbey helpers!

Laymen & Laywomen Animations

With all that work on their backend, we had plenty of work for ourselves with Laymen/women animations to occupy ourselves with. Lifting heavy items up and lowering them down again are familiar tasks for these cute yet beefy helpers; as do our pixel artist Raimo.

Raimo proves time after time (and we won't mind repeating himself) why we hold him up as our supreme animation overlord - with every character animated as uniquely as possible while making his work look effortless in the process. We cannot thank Raimo enough!

Management occurs within organizations.

Ah, the Abbot's Office (still WIP!)! Another room we are revisiting with adjustments. After adding extra furniture earlier in 2018, such as beds, fireplaces, file cabinets and banners...this week our focus shifted onto creating the Abbot's desk that will serve as the centerpiece for overseeing monastery operations.

Here lies where all the magic occurs! This is where it all happens!

Ale Abbey was designed to simulate an accurate representation of life as an industrial brewery; we've spoken a great deal about that before. But that doesn't mean we can be picky with its authenticity: some undesirable aspects of brewing must also be represented here.

As homebrewing can go wrong even today with all our technology and knowledge at our fingertips, imagine what would have happened in Ale Abbey during its production at the late Middle Ages... despite best efforts of monastic brewers attempting to preserve all ales unscathed; unfortunately some might become compromised from bugs getting through... While in Ale Abbey your ales might get infected - great news for bugs but potentially disastrous news for you and your beer.

From personal experience, any beer which smells strongly beyond "pleasantly funky" often indicates various issues which must be rectified quickly or it will eventually become irrecoverable.
