Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was one such game to use mental health experts during game development to make its depictions more accurate, so we thought to add one too and create something truly different with horror, diving deeper into player minds to understand psychologically what scares them, connecting with characters they encounter on our team while building character connections between themselves and characters that might make for interesting playthroughs and real life interaction; that led us to add this final member as Advisor of Psychologie

Employing the services of a psychologist advisor has many advantages; we can now adjust situations to create environments, music, Voice Acting or sounds to enhance them. Create an unsettling environment and increase immersion so players can get more immersed into what the protagonist and antagonist may be feeling, driving their actions, as well as understanding why. Feel their anxiety or their fear. Psychology in horror can be tricky business; much research must be conducted in order to uncover unconscious processes and discover how different players react differently when presented with stimuli; yet ultimately using psychology in horror is rewarding as it allows one to connect deeper with players while stimulating emotional feelings within them. Gaming was an integral part of growing up for us; an escape and source of happiness. Now we are trying to give that back through creating something that allows people to leave everything behind for just a little while and immerse themselves into this strange psychological landscape.
