In this post we'll focus on the survival side of Obitus. Here we discuss inventories, food supplies and campfires as tools of survival.

At Obitus, Sunday has arrived and with it comes another installment of development. In this post we focus on survival elements of Obitus.

As mentioned previously, this game does not resemble your typical survival experience as resources are scarce and carrying capacity is restricted; making the task even harder to perform.

Players need to stay alive by eating and drinking regularly, staying warm and not getting killed by other players.

Current inventories only feature eight slots and may remain that way during development, and storages won't be possible either.

Players will not only have access to a drop shop but will be able to craft weapons and food using resources found within the zone.

Food resources typically only provide enough sustenance for long enough for you to create a campfire and cook up something better, or find another quick snack.

Current food options that can be found are berries, insects and mushrooms. You will also have access to higher quality items in a drop shop such as tuna, protein bars, sardines or even dog food!

There will be fish and rabbits available that can be caught, killed and cooked over campfires.

Campfires can be created via the Crafting Menu and placed anywhere on the ground, however when using one it's important to remember both light and smoke emanates from them may reveal your location, necessitating careful planning when employing one.

Campfires require fuel such as sticks or bark for fueling them; after sundown the temperature begins to decrease rapidly, making a campfire essential to your survival.

All campfires have limited lifespan and eventually wear away with use, necessitating players to craft new campfires regularly.

So how long have we been currently developing the app?

Well! Network-wise we are currently at 82% completion with most multiplayer features complete and working properly. Once we reach 100% we will assess each feature to optimize them further or see if there's any unnecessary code we could get rid of or redo altogether.

Combat and weapon equippi'ng are key features to complete for this game, with it currently working fully in single player but will require work for network usage.

As can be seen from our screenshots, we are also currently developing early access terrain that will serve as playzone.

This will likely involve changing and improving graphics to achieve an enhanced appearance and feel.

As there are only 2 developers working full time jobs on our game development, and neither family life nor daily obligations allow for as much focus to go towards its development as we'd like to put forth.
