The Holiday Update has arrived! Including a post-game side quest and weapon as well as an updated Superboss that has 1 Million HP! Plus there is the return of April Fool's Boss as well as bug fixes!

Happy Christmas and happy Holidays everyone! I hope everyone has had a fantastic start to 2023 thus far.

As part of 8-Bit Adventures 2, I just released an exciting update! Ratalaika Games' porting company partner continues their console porting efforts while I work to develop Free DLC content; therefore I wanted to do something special this Holiday Season to commemorate both.

Additionally to my usual bug fixes and reinstating an April Fools' Day boss (please read below for information), I have also implemented a post-game side quest: speak to Traveller in Dev Room and choose Secret Map when asked by him (info is also below).

Yes, your Christmas presents have finally been unwrapped and they launch you on an exciting quest of hunting down Glitched Monsters with peculiar mechanics that may take you by surprise! Collect seven pieces of Glitchite to craft yourself an extremely effective weapon and face an upgraded version of Experimental Titan with special mechanics!

I was inspired by the Mushroom Heartless side-quest in Kingdom Hearts - though significantly streamlined - for this concept. JRPGs offer us great opportunities for finding powerful weapons by hunting down monsters - it will come in handy during future DLC releases as well!

Since some players found the original Titan too easy, I wanted to take this chance to create a harder variant - one with faster attack speed, increased strength, and 1 MILLION HP! While that sounds excessive for 8BA2, its unique mechanic means this battle doesn't drag on too long; just one that requires different focus and strategies (especially during phase 1). Although its intended to be challenging enough that players come back after having upgraded with Free DLC content (it should still be fair though!), so here's hoping everyone comes up with their winning strategies! Good luck to everyone on creating winning strategies!

This new content is permanent (unlike April Fool's event), and should take around one hour without guidance to complete.

Thank you so much for all your support this year, it truly means so much. Although 8-Bit Adventures 2 may only have achieved modest success so far, all the reviews and kind words from players has made us all feel good - hopefully this journey won't end anytime soon!

But if you really want to give me something meaningful for Christmas, consider leaving a review if you haven't already! When we reach 500 Reviews with an Overall Positive rating on Steam, more attention will be brought toward our game; all it needs is less than 1/8th of players leaving reviews at that milestone! Please consider it when giving me gifts this holiday season!

Update for 14 December 2023.

  • Addition of post-game side quest within Dev Room. Speak to Traveller, visit Secret Room, open presents from Traveller and finally face Million HP Super Boss Experimental Titan!
  • Back by popular demand is our special April Fools' Day boss who can only be encountered after beating the game (just as before! )and is hidden somewhere within Dev Room.
  • Speak to the Traveller, then explore Pheopolis Castle development maps until you locate him ;)
  • Fixed an issue whereby Captain's sprite would vanish just prior to tutorial battle near the beginning of game play.
  • Fix for an issue wherein cursor would not appear as expected in Character Naming Window.
  • Fixed an issue where players could no longer access certain parts of a roof in the Merchant District of Pheopolis. Resolved collision issues on the Floating Continent where players could walk directly onto one of its eastern-most waterfalls.
  • Corrected inaccurate text in the game's final city. When opening the chest that contained Instant K.O. Attack Augments, its text incorrectly stated a 20% success chance whereas this augment actually offers 10% chances.
  • Fixes have been implemented to mitigate an end-game side quest bug where, around Emma's end-game quest, walking animation can abruptly cease at times of Emma's side quests. These solutions activate after opening cutscene in Stonecrest Ruins or Factory or talking with little girl at Anbu City entrance (manual solution).
  • Fix for Poison Dart ability failing to inflict Poison Status on CRUSH!! enemies on Mountain Pass. Although I attempted to ensure its success on these tutorial status ailments (since Poison doesn't linger) due to RNG factors. Therefore I took another approach in order to eradicate this bug and ensure 100% successful Poison Status application against these enemies.
  • As part of my preparations for the Free DLC, I increased the minimum AP threshold on Charlie's "Everything!!" ability from 40 AP to 50. Furthermore, this ability now takes into account an enemy's Defence stat in its damage calculation formula more heavily. Don't worry though; this ability remains as powerful an attack as intended!
  • Fix for Emma on one of our tutorial windows.
  • Fixes include typo correction in Sky Forge and visual issue in first Airship Journey opening cutscene.
  • Implemented the intended animation of Locust Jar item (it previously relied upon Stopwatch item's animation instead).
  • Fixed targeting and visual glitches on Experimental Titan boss.
  • I think I may have finally identified and resolved the source of Arena Clockwork Controller bug! Therefore, no other players should experience softlock in this battle.
  • Fix for minor display glitch with Auto-Haste Augment.
  • At the outset of my game, I made adjustments to speed and flow of NPC dialogue at Pheopolis Castle at its opening moment, making several instances slower than elsewhere in game. Furthermore, some dialogue in Pheopolis Castle's combat tutorial was adjusted slightly faster by slightly shortening some lines that spoke slowly at its start.
