Luminosion Dev Blog

Luminosion is a unique action arcade style game originally developed with the iPad in mind. The basic concept is that players have to use their skills to pull particles together into a single point, causing them to explode and awarding the player points based on the number of particles in an explosion, and how many "chains" the player can link together.
You are limited in how large a radius of particles you can draw together, so to be able to pull particles together, the player must successfully continue to cause explosions. Basically: explosions = more explosions = bigger score! There will be different game modes, but the basic concept and gameplay will remain similar throughout. Mastery of this simple ability is the key to succeeding at the game!
To mix things up, the game also features powerups that - as you would expect - each have some benefit that makes it easier to play or build up your score. At the moment Luminosion only has the 1 gameplay mode: Timed. In Timed mode you are given 3 minutes to get the highest score you can. This is the main mode that I thought about when I originally worked on the idea of Luminosion - fast paced action arcade fun with a pumping soundtrack to get you enjoying the game and shooting for high scores!
With Timed mode very close to done, there are a number of other modes I would like to include in the main release of the game: Arcade, Challenge, Paint, and Multiplayer. Each of these modes features some variation on the core gameplay as mentioned above to mix things up a bit - keep an eye out for more dev blogs to find out more about them as I get round to writing about the ideas and eventually implementing them!
If you've read to this point, I thank you for showing some interest in Luminosion!Keep a look out for more dev blogs and the demo of the game featuring Timed mode with the default field - I have to make some adjustments to the core code of the game to be able to release it on all platforms (the demo will be on iPad, Mac OS X and Windows - my engine has undergone some changes during the 9 months I wasn't working on Luminosion) but this demo is effectively written right now as you can see in this video :).
